The alt text box for an image in a Microsoft Word doc.

I recently analyzed how to best meet faculty’s need for documents, and USA laws around ADA accessible web (WCAG compliant). Microsoft Office had more tools to use for accessibility. For example, Microsoft has a build in tool that labels that a row is the header (title) row for tables. That is required for any table with a header row (most tables) in order to meet ADA requirements. Microsoft also tries to use AI to automatically label many of the images in documents. You can also add headings (which are needed in for ADA).
